Clayton S. Angell, 84
İİİFuneral services were held on Wednesday, August 25, at the Hawley Lutheran Church in Hawley. İİİClayton was born on April 7, 1920 in Thief River Falls, the son of Carl and Eva (Foss) Angell. He attended school in Thief River Falls until sixth grade, when his family moved to Lancaster. He graduated from Lancaster in 1938. İİİAfter high school, Clayton attended Concordia College, Moorhead, where he received his degree in biology and phy-ed. During his senior year, he was drafted and served in the Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He served in the Asiatic Pacific and the European Theatre of operation and also saw combat in Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns İİİAfter his discharge, Clayton lived in Oregon for one year and then moved back to Thief River Falls where he operated the Texaco Service Station. In 1954, he accepted a teaching position in Lancaster, where he taught science and coached all the sports. İİİOn August 6, 1962, Clayton married Olive (Hoglin) Dexter. They moved Thief River Falls in 1962 and took over the same service station for two years. In 1964, they moved to Hawley, where he taught science and biology at Hawley High School until retiring in 1985. Clayton was an active member of the Hawley Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, and the American Legion, where he served as commander for many years, the VFW, the Lions and the Hawley Golf Club, where he served on the board of directors. İİİSurvivors include his daughter, Rhonda (Todd) Rasmussen of Hawley; two step-sons, Lee Dexter of Fargo, N.D., and Dennis Dexter of Hawley and three grandchildren. İİİClayton was preceded in death by his wife, Olive, who died in 1995; his parents; three sisters; one brother; and one stepson, Roger Dexter.İİİİİİA00003B2004SP01 |
