    Newfolden - Kelvin Myhrer, 51, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his residence in rural Newfolden.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, with Pastor Gary Barrett officiating. Casket bearers included Mark Carlson, Dean Weber, Al Brandt, Corey Nelson, Joel Swan, Corey Teie and Troy Myhrer. Honorary casket beares included all of Kelvin’s family and friends.  
    Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 5 p.m. prayer service with Larry Myhrer officiating,  on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.  Visitation will also be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
    Kelvin Lee Myhrer was born on May 18, 1960 in Thief River Falls, the son of Marshall and Verna (Holmstrom) Myhrer.  He was baptized at home by his grandfather, Rev. Thorvald Myhrer and confirmed at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, by Rev. Earl Eveland. He attended school in Newfolden and graduated in 1978.
    Following high school, Kelvin worked at the Newfolden Elevator for a short time, and then for Mark Carlson Farms for ten plus years. Kelvin then worked for Town and Country Meats, Nordic Wood Products, and for the past 16 years has worked for Northern Woodwork in Thief River Falls  
    In 1979, Kelvin was united in marriage to Faye Bjorgaard and to this union a son, Joshua was born.
    On May 6, 2001 Kelvin was united in marriage to Brenda Gustafson at the United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush.  The couple has made their home on the Myhrer family farm in Newfolden Township, Marshall County.
    He was a past member of the Karlstad Eagle’s Club and the Agassiz Rod & Gun Club.
    Kelvin was an avid outdoorsman, his passion was hunting, and he had made many trips to Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed several trips to Nester Falls, Ontario, Canada, and Frazee, with his family. During his lifetime, Kelvin accumulated many trophy animals and fish including, bear, elk, antelope, white and mule deer, fish, ducks, geese, squirrel and even a two headed calf. Kelvin enjoyed and excelled at taxidermy. He was very artistic, detail oriented and passionate about recreating wildlife. His love for the outdoors was shown as a young boy when he camped in the outdoors in sub-zero weather.  Kelvin also enjoyed raising pheasant, chukar partridge, bob white quail, ducks and Canadian geese on the farm.
    Survivors include his wife Brenda of Newfolden; son, Josh Myhrer currently of Costa Rica; mother, Verna Myhrer of Thief River Falls; brother, David (Dianne) Myhrer of Middle River; sister-in-law, Mary Myhrer of Frazee; nephews, Troy (Stephanie) Myhrer and Jason Myhrer; nieces, Amanda (Gary) Benton, Kristi (special friend CJ) Myhrer, and Laura (Chad) Donarski; and several great-nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Gloria Gustafson of Greenbush, sister-in-law, Celeste (Steve) Engen of Karlstad; and many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall Myhrer in 1996; brother, Keith Myhrer in 2006; paternal grandparents, Rev. Thorvald and Bertha Myhrer; and maternal grandparents, Victor and Pearl Holmstrom; father-in-law, Ray “Sparky” Gustafson.
