Portage, Mich. - Calvin B. Bradley, 71, of Portage, Mich, died on Saturday, April 16.
A Memorial Service was held Wednesday April 20 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Portage. A private family interment was held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Calvin was born October 11, 1933 in Thief River Falls, the son of Charles and Anna (Wing) Bradley; and has been a Portage area resident since 1962.
From 1951-53 he served in the U.S. Navy and later received his bachelors degree from Morehead State University. Calvin has been an independent insurance agent for many years and was founder of the Bradley and Bradley then later the Bradley and McCarty Insurance Agency.
He had received CPCU and CIC designations for insurance, was involved in many insurance organizations, was a past president of the Professional Insurance Agents Association and was a proud member of the local Michigan Association of Independent Agents. Calvin was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He had served in many civic organizations through the years; was a longtime Kalamazoo Wings fan and was currently a member of the American Legion.
The most important part of Calvin's life was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and attending their special events. On December 12, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Ellen R. Haug who survives. Also surviving are his children, Dan (Karen) Bradley of Kalamazoo, Mich., Diane (Jim) McCarty of Mattawan, Mich., Karin Bradley of Portage, Mich.; eight grandchildren; brother and sisters, Joseph (Marge) Bradley of Milwaukee, Wis., Evelyn Latta of Canada and Esther (Bill) Payfer of Mankato; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lloyd Bradley and Catherine Bradley.
