 Strandquist - Edward Kostrzewski, 94, died on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, surrounded by his loving family.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stephen. Father Bob Stone will preside. Honorary casket bearers include Edward’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casket bearers include Edward’s family. Interment will be held at St. Stephen Cemetery in Stephen. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Father Rick Lambert will preside at the prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Edward Timothy Kostrzewski was born May 27, 1917 in Davis Township, Kittson County, the son of Martin and Rose (Kulpinski) Kostrzewski. He was baptized and confirmed at Florian. He attended Englund Country School in Nelson Park Township. On Nov. 19, 1946, Edward was united in marriage to Inez McKeever. He bought land from his mother and farmed the family farm all of his life until he entered the nursing home. He also worked for farmers, did some construction, worked for Arctic Cat, but mainly farmed. He loved farming and the family land meant a lot to him. Edward enjoyed auction sales, driving around and looking at crops. He liked to keep busy on the farm. He truly enjoyed shaking dice, playing pull-tabs with grandma, and playing “6, 5, 4,” in which he was always lucky. Edward especially loved seeing and visiting with his family and grandchildren. Edward is survived by children: Julia “Judy” (Arvid) Sten, Argyle, Vernon Kostrzewski, Forreston, Birdean (Maureen) Kostrzewski, Crookston, Dale (special friend, Peggy Guzek) Kostrzewski, Strandquist, MN and Yvonne (Tim) Bergerson, Thief River Falls; 11 grandchildren: Michael (Julie) Sten, Annette Sten, Kelly (Nevada) Romsdahl, Kari (Troy) Walz, Rebecca (Denver) Missel, Billie (Jeremy) Gagner, Heidi (fiance, Adrian Chaffee), Dean Kostrzewski, Logan Kostrzewski, Ashley (fiance, Timmy Irelan) Bergerson, Trevor Bergerson; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey and Megan Gagner, Madison Leverty, Brady Walz, Mason and River Romsdahl, Donovan and Damien Missel; brothers, Stanley (Angeline), Warren, and Edmund (Evelyn) Kostrzewski, Thief River Falls. He was preceded in death by wife, Inez; grandson, Ervin Kostrzewski, parents, grandparents, brothers, Steve, Raymond, Peter and Walter, sister, Cecilia Landerville.
