Superior - LaVern H. Mickelson, 74, resident of Royalton Manor in Superior, Wis., died on Friday, April 8, 2005 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 12, at Downs Funeral Home in Superior, officiated by Todd Iverson of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
LaVern was born in Red Lake County, on January 27, 1931 to Bertina (Sedig) and Michael Mickelson.
LaVern served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a construction millwright for various contractors.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (Superior, Wis.), the VFW and the Millwright Local 1348 of Virginia, Minn.
LaVerne is survived by his sister, Margaret Pankow of Hawkinson, N.D.; a step-son, Donald Paquin of Newark, Calif.; a nephew, Merlin Peterson of Mountain Iron; three step-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Christenson), two sisters, Mildred Mickelson and Eleanor Freerksen and a brother, Lawrence Mickelson.
