 St. Paul - Darrell Wick, 64, died unexpectedly on April 16, 2005 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
  Funeral services were held on Friday, April 22, at Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, with Pastor Martin Ericson officiating. Interment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
  He was born in Thief River Falls on Sept. 16, 1940, to Matt and Mildred (Thompson) Wick. He lived in Gatzke, where he was baptized at the Lutheran Church on November 10, 1940. The family moved to Detroit, Mich., during the war, where his father worked in a defense plant.
 In 1947, they moved to Grygla, where he attended school. Later, they moved to Strandquist and Stephen, before moving to Thief River Falls in 1953.
 He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on June 6, 1954 and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957.
 Following high school he worked with his dad on construction and attended Moorhead State College for two years, before being drafted into the Army in October 1963. He took his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and then was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., where he worked in the office until is discharge in October 1965, with a rank of Sp4 and a good conduct medal.
 After service, he moved to the cities, where he worked on construction. He then worked at Brown and Bigelow for a few years, the Indian Head Truck Company in the print shop and the past 17 and one-half years in the mail room at the Department of Health in St. Paul.
 On June 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judy Ranum at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He and Judy loved to travel and visited many places. The two recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas, Nev.
 He loved to hunt and fish and spent time at his uncle’s farm in Grygla.
 Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Judy, his mother, Mildred Wick, a brother, Robert (Sheila) of Lakeville, a sister, Marlys (Ed) Furuseth of Warroad; five nephews; one niece; three grand nephews; one grand niece; also uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
 He was preceded in death by his father in 1990 and by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
