Salina, Kan. - Laura, Joshua and Joy Geske, of Salina, Kansas, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 due to an automobile accident on Interstate 70 just west of Topeka. Laura Ruth Geske, 37, was born April 5, 1974 in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Lynn and Helen Zurstadt Genter. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1992. She then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Concordia University-Nebraska. Laura was a fourth generation Lutheran teacher. She taught elementary school at Immanuel Lutheran School in St. Charles, Missouri, East Bethlehem Lutheran School in Detroit, Michigan, Messiah Lutheran School in St. Louis, Missouri, Immanuel Lutheran School in Junction City and six years at Topeka Lutheran School in Topeka. She also taught at Eastridge Elementary School in Amarillo, Texas. Laura married Jeffrey Geske on June 3, 1995 in Leavenworth. Laura was an active part of each church family where she and her husband served, including LWML and serving in the various music and educational ministries. Pastor Geske and Laura had served at Trinity Lutheran in McFarland, KS, Prince of Peace Lutheran in Amarillo, TX, and most recently at Christ the King Lutheran in Salina, KS. Laura was devoted to her family and loved family outings. She loved to read and cross-stitch. She was an active member of the Amarillo Area Mothers of Multiples. Laura is survived by her husband Rev. Jeffrey Geske and son, Jacob Geske; her parents, Lynn and Helen Genter, Leavenworth; her sisters, Heidi Genter and her fiancé, Eric Eaton, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Emily Wood and her husband, Reverend Eric Wood, Okawville, Illinois; her mother and father in-law, Arnold and Linda Geske, Thief River Falls, Minnesota; her brothers-in-law, John Geske and his wife, Melanie, Mounds View, Minnesota, Mike Geske, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. Joshua Lynn Geske, 8, was born December 29, 2003 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Reverend Jeffrey and Laura (Genter) Geske. While in Amarillo, he attended Eastridge Elementary and was proud to be an “Eastridge Eagle”. He was currently a student at Coronado Elementary School in Salina. Joshua loved to play with Legos and his Wii. He was always eager to help his mom and dad with the wash and vacuuming. He also loved to help cook and bake. He is survived by his father, Jeffrey; brother, Jacob; his grandparents; aunts, uncles and cousins. Joy Linda Geske, 3, was born August 9, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Reverend Jeffrey and Laura (Genter) Geske. While in Amarillo, Joy enjoyed going to Christ Lutheran Child Care and Trinity Lutheran Child Care. She was attending the YMCA Daycare in Salina and loved Cinderella and playing anything “princess”. She is also survived by her father, Jeffrey, her twin brother, Jacob, her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, south east of Paxico. Laura, Joshua and Joy will lie-in-state on Friday, at the church, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. They suggest memorial contributions to the Geske Family Memorial Fund and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego.
