Coon Rapids - Marian Ida (Gutterud) Erickson, 74, formerly of Thief River Falls, died after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 in Coon Rapids.
Funeral services were held at the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Holt on Saturday Jan. 7. Her cremains will be laid to rest with her family in the spring of 2012.
Marian Ida (Gutterud) Erickson was born May 12, 1937 in East Valley Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Silver Creek Church. She liked doing crafts, puzzle books, reading, playing cards, and helping her friend Jeanette Reierson make lefsa. She was a member of the Naomi circle at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Her Grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She raised her family in Superior, Wis., and was a clerk in the Douglas County Treasurers office. After retirement, she lived in the twin cities area for a few years but returned to her home town of Thief River Falls to live until she needed assistance two years ago. Until December, she was in an assisted living facility in Brooklyn Park.
Marian is survived by her brother Lawrence Gutterud of Thief River Falls; sisters, Wilma Baker of Hendrick Kent., Dolores (Richard) Rosett of Embarrass, Daughter Sheryl of Champlin; son’s Mark of Champlin and Perry (Heidi) Dayton; granddaughters, Emily and April; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys; father Oscar; and three brothers, Elmer, Richard and Leonard.
