Thief River Falls - Wayne “Hippy” Hinden, 55, of Thief River Falls, died on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at his friend’s residence in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Honorary casket bearers included Joshua Hinden, Shawn Martinsen, Randy Dempsey, Rocky Newton, Danny Newton and Dave Sjostrand.
Wayne Mitchell Hinden was born on June 8, 1956 to Delewoyn and Delvina (Wangen) Hinden in Port Washington, WI. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Thief River Falls, and Fredonia, Wis. As a young man, Wayne worked for Bill Ness on the farm. He lived and worked out west in the oil fields. He lived in Minneapolis and worked as a truck driver. He would help drive truck with beet and potato harvests in the fall.
Wayne loved motorcycles and rode a Harley Davidson. He was a NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. One of his favorite times was getting to see a race in Kansas City last year. He loved living in the country and enjoyed nature, especially sunsets. He was proud of his most recent accomplishment building a pond on his place west of Thief River Falls. He stocked the pond with fish. He was really proud of that accomplishment. He enjoyed hunting and watching the wild life. Wayne had green thumbs and grew wonderful vegetable gardens.
He is survived by one sister Rhonda (Barry) Martinsen, Thief River Falls; nieces and nephews: Shawn (Nickie) Martinsen, Kelly (fiancé Sam Kenner) Stenvik, Jessie (Dave Brown) Hinden, and Joshua (Danni Rausch) Hinden all of Thief River Falls; and many great nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Delewoyn and Delvina, and two brothers Robert “Roy” and Mitchell.
