Thief River Falls - Darrell “Merf” Myrfield, 54, of Thief River Falls, died on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Pastor Jim Robberstad officiating. Interment will be held at McCrea Cemetery near Warren.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Monday.
Darrell Ross Myrfield was born on January 13, 1957 in Warren, the son of Oscar and Louise (Kile) Myrfield. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Warren. He attended and graduated from Warren High School.
Darrell worked for the next 23 years for the Marshall County Highway Department and since June 2006 has worked at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls.
Darrell was united in marriage to Susan Anderson on Dec. 25, 2000 at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren.
He enjoyed playing the bass guitar and has played in several local bands, most recently with Pick Six. He also enjoyed being outdoors, campfires, woodcraft, hunting, and fishing. Darrell loved animals, had a great sense of humor, and especially enjoyed clowning around with the grandkids.
Darrell was lovingly known to his family and friends as “Merf.”
Darrell is a lifetime member of the Eagles Club in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include his loving wife of 11 years, Susan of Thief River Falls; daughter, Katie; step-children, Alison (fiancé, Corey Johnson) Corneliusen and Ryan (Michelle) Corneliusen; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Devin, Morgan and Ayden; step-great-grandchild, Lilly; sisters, Beverly (Richard) Karr of Warren, Marcia (Paul) Baynes of Espanola, N.M.; brother, Curt (Deb) Myrfield of Warren; aunt, Elaine Myrfield of Warren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
