 Coon Rapids - Alfred “Al” Engelstad, 82, of Coon Rapids and formerly of Thief River Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Dec. 26 at the Church of the Epiphany, 11001 Hanson Blvd. NW in Coon Rapids.?Interment was held at Morningside Memorial Gardens. During the last 11 months he kept his humor and was adored by all who knew him. Al was born in Thief River Falls to Mons and Olga Engelstad, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948 and worked as a tool and die maker at Honeywell for 42 years. Al will be missed by his family and many friends. Farewell dad and "Have Fun!" In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; daughters, Brenda (Tom) Feidt, Julie (Jim) Stack, Lisa and Jill (Craig) Jurchisin; sons, Steven, Jeff and Paul; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Ruby); sister, Ivalee Channon; sisters-in-law, Van and Pat. He was preceded in death by brothers, Vern, Cleo and Loren; sisters, Ruby and Marie; son-in-law, Mike Frankenberg; and great-grandson, Dakota Stack.
