Thief River Falls - Lenore Kraemer, 80, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Dec.  19 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Casket bearers included Tom Wold, Dale Wold, Daniel Lane, Diane Monk, Michael Kraemer and Carl Seed. Interment was held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Lenore Adeline Hanson was born on Sept. 22, 1931 to George O. and Alma (Simonson) Hanson in Thief River Falls.  She attended a country school west of Thief River Falls through eighth grade. She then attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1949. During the end of her high school years, she moved to town and worked at JC Penney’s to help her family. Also during the summertime, she worked at Robert and Anne Kraemer’s home to help with household duties. During this time, she met Jerome Kraemer. She was united in marriage to Jerome “Joe” G. Kraemer on August 26, 1950 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls.  They made their home on the farm where Joe was raised. In the late 1960s until the mid 1970s she worked for Arctic Cat.
Lenore was a meticulous housekeeper who was very proud of her home.  She prepared many large meals for her family and excelled at baking.  Her grandchildren loved her brownies, spritz cookies, banana bread, and lefse. She was “famous” for her dill pickles.
As a physically active woman, Lenore loved cross-country skiing, taking long walks, and tending the gardens and yard. She was one of the few people who actually enjoyed mowing the lawn. Lenore was skilled in all aspects of farm life and believed no job was beneath her. One of her favorite pastimes included reading and discussing novels.
Lenore believed in prayer and that good would prevail. A woman with great patience, she accepted difficulties with grace.   She opened her family’s eyes to the beauty of nature. Lenore was proud of her children and grandchildren and whatever accomplishments they achieved, large or small.  Living with her long-term illnesses, she faced these challenges with courage and acceptance.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, her church Guild, St. Joanna Circle, and The National Catholic Order of Foresters.
Lenore laughed easily and often. Her smile will always be remembered.
She is survived by three children:  Carol (Gale) Schmitz of Thief River Falls, Gregory (Cynthia) Kraemer of Hutchinson, and David Kraemer of Lakeville, Mass.; four grandchildren: Benjamin Schmitz of Thief River Falls, Laura Schmitz of Isle, Anna Kraemer of Silver Lake, and Erin Kraemer of Duluth, brother-in-law Wallace Lane of Moorhead; sister-in-law, Wylma Kraemer of Fargo, N.D., and several nieces and nephews.
Lenore was preceded in death by her husband Jerome on Nov. 15, 2007;  two sisters, Dorothy Wold and Gladys Lane; brothers-in-law, Virgil Wold, Al Kraemer, Matt Kraemer, Robert Kraemer, and Robert Brennan; sisters-in-law, Lee (Kraemer) Brennan and Anne Kraemer.
