Plummer - Loren LaFayette, 85, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Casket bearers included Perry Duden, John Paradis, Kevin Tvedt, Shane Freyholtz, Arnold Schmitz and Bill Paradis. Interment was held at Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer.
Loren James LaFayette was born on October 10, 1926 at home, near Plummer, the son of Elson and Laura (Hemstad) LaFayette. He attended District 214 rural school and graduated from Plummer High School in 1944. Loren farmed with his dad.
Loren was united in marriage to Helen Payne on October 15, 1975 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls.
He drove school bus for the Plummer School for 35 years. Loren farmed the home farm his entire life, milked cows and raised cattle and small grain.
He enjoyed his Ford pickups and tractors, watching the Vikings, attending High School sports and spending time with young people. Loren was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer.
Loren is survived by his wife, Helen, of Plumme; one brother, Howard LaFayette of Plummer; sisters, Joyce Cuykendall of Albany, Ore., and Violet “Dolly” Page of Oak Creek, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lucille Meyer and Gladys Whitaker.
