    Thief River Falls - Denise Larson, 55, died on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls.
    Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 28 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Casket bearers included Chuck Larson, Danny Larson, Jeff Joppru, Orrin Joppru, Carl Seed and Wayne Malwitz.  Interment was held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.  
    Denise Marie Haugen was born on Sept. 6, 1956 to Earl Duane and Doreen Doris (Wiener) Haugen in Ely. She was baptized at the Catholic Church in Babbit. She attended grade school at Northrop Elementary in Thief River Falls, then Osseo and Nashwauk, and graduated in 1975 from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.  
    Denise was united in marriage to William “Bill” Eldon Larson on June 5, 1976 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Thief River Falls and have lived in town ever since.  She worked at El Cerito’s Restaurant in St. Hilaire for a few years.  She then worked in the kitchen at Knox and Franklin Schools in Thief River Falls.
    She also worked at Falls Decorators for a short time and Rose’s Catering for a few years.  She made many friends selling Avon and also took care of her mother’s affairs and helped her rent out the apartments in her mother’s house.      
    Denise had green thumbs and worked with her husband planting and designing many beautiful gardens around her home.  She was a wonderful daughter and helped her mother out with many different things.  She had a knack at making wedding and birthday cakes.  Denise was artistic and liked to paint pictures.  Bill and Denise spent many happy years together.           
    She is survived by her husband Bill Larson, Thief River Falls, mother Doreen Dargon, Thief River Falls, brother Duane Haugen, Thief River Falls; nieces and nephews, Dyllon Dargon, Wyola, Mont., Jonathan and BreAnna Haugan, Thief River Falls, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.    
    Denise was preceded in death by her brother Rayton “Bubs” Dargon III; father Earl Haugen; maternal grandparents Casper Jr. and Susan Wiener, and paternal grandparents Olaf and Gena Haugan.
