Roseau - Betty E. Roadfeldt, age 81, passed away on October 23, 2011 at the Warroad Senior Living Center in Warroad.
A Funeral Service for Betty Roadfeldt of Warroad, formally of Thief River Falls, will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation held one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be held at Hope Cemetery in Roseau. Betty Bergland was born in Roseau, MN, on January 15, 1930. She is the daughter of Selmer and Mable (Evans) Bergland. She was baptized and confirmed at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. She graduated from Roseau High School in 1948. Then she left Roseau to attend school at Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, graduating in 1951 as a registered nurse. She was employed at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, in many different nursing positions including evening and night supervisor. She was also the head nurse in pediatrics from 1951-1960. In 1960 she began employment at the TRF Technical Collage as a nursing instructor and remained in that position until her retirement in 1990. She was active in many professional organizations including local, state and national education organizations. Also Thief River Falls bowling association, AARP and the DLF party. She held many offices in these groups. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in many church activities. She served as chairman of the Women’s Organization (ZLCW) from 1992-1994. Betty was married to Morris Roadfeldt on June 21, 1952 at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1998. She is survived by a daughter Debra (Stan) Ehrenstrom of Warroad and a son Jeff (Cindy) Roadfeldt of Salol. Also surviving are grandchildren; Jenny (Darian) Wesolowski of Bellingham, Washington, Sindy (Kent) Larson of East Grand Forks, ND, Christine (Chris) Dougherty of West Fargo, ND, Chris, Ethan, Carter Roadfeldt of Fargo, ND, Alicia Roadfeldt of Sidney, Nebraska, Michelle Roadfeldt of Moorhead, MN, Chloe (Jeremy) Sims and Dain Roadfeldt of Minneapolis, MN; step-grandchildren, Anna (Dustin) Stuart of Salol, Adam Solberg of Warroad; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Helen) Bergland of Roseau, Phil (Lois) Bergland of Thief River Falls and Glen (Marie) Bergland of Warroad. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris, her parents and a son, Roger, in 1991.
