    Red Lake Falls - Cecile Thode, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at Pioneer Care Center, Erskine.
     Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 20 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, with Rev. Gary Graff officiating. Casket bearers include  Ray Thode, Keith Thode, Chad Thode, Mark Thode, Les Cota and Neal Vraa. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.
     Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct.  20, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls.
     Cecile Marie Casavan was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Red Lake County, the daughter of Cyperien and Olive (Boutain) Casavan. She was raised in the Dorothy area and attended school near Huot.
     On May 14, 1946, Cecile was united in marriage to Frederick Ferdinand Thode in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Utah for several years before moving back to Minnesota. They farmed for a few years in rural Red Lake Falls. They moved to Crookston, where she was a homemaker.  She moved back to Red Lake Falls in 1969 and in December of 2001, she moved to Erskine.
     She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Cecile was an excellent cook, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, fishing, cards and most of all, loved the time spent with her family.
     Cecile is survived by son Raymond (Kathleen), Mentor, and their children, Sarah, Julie and Anna; daughter, Donna (Leslie) Cota, Thief River Falls,  and their children, Bradley, Lance, Wade and Carli; daughter, Nancy (Neal) Vraa, Red Lake Falls, and their children, Teresa, Shanon and Casey; son Keith (Lona), and their children, Chad and Mark;  daughter-in-law, Kim Thode, Middle River, and her children, Amy, Valerie, Brian, Josh, Jesse, Cassidy; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by husband Fred; sons Leon and Lonnie; parents; sisters Obilene Lizotte, Cora Hanson, Mabel Senske, Lilly Hanson, Doris Pahlen, Marie Lentz and Gladys McGrath; brothers Lawrence “Blackie” Casavan and Delphus Casavan.
