Red Lake Falls - Vern Perreault, 84, died on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Casket bearers included sons: Dennis, Wayne, Lyle, Bruce; Sons-in-Law: John Kleven and Dan Wavra. Honorary casket bearers include All of Vern’s grandchildren. Interment was held at St. Anthony Cemetery in Terrebonne. Vern Lloyd Perreault was born on June 25, 1927, to Napoleon and Amanda (Paradis) Perreault at their farm home in Terrebonne Township, Red Lake County. He attended Beau-Gerlot Elementary School and then graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. Vern was united in marriage to Merlyn Fredrickson on Aug. 22, 1950, in Plummer. To this union, six children were born: Dennis, Wayne, Lyle, Mary, Lori and Bruce. They made their home on the family farm near Terrebonne until his death. Vern was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Terrebonne, until it closed and then became a member of St. Joseph Catholic church in Red Lake Falls. Vern was a lifelong farmer who loved to work his land. He was also a journeyman electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 292. He worked in the electrical construction business on many projects in the tri-state area. Vern loved to sing and play the accordion. From the Perreault Rhythm Boys to the Local Four, he led the band in many celebrations and wedding dances. He enjoyed fishing with family and entertaining at their home on the family farm near Terrebonne. After retirement Vern and Merlyn enjoyed spending their winters in Mission, Texas, with many friends and relatives. Vern is survived by his wife, Merlyn, of Red Lake Falls; children: Dennis (Debra) Perreault of Grand Rapids, Wayne (Patti) Perreault of Nashwauk, Lyle (Diane) Perreault of Apple Valley, Mary (John) Kleven of Red Lake Falls, Lori (Dan) Wavra of Red Lake Falls, and Bruce (Gwen) Perreault of Moorhead; 19 grandchildren: Michelle (Clint) Lundeen, Ryan (Mollie)Burke, Renae (David) Caneday, Jacquelyn (Brian) Senske, Jennifer (Noah) Wahl, Nicole Perreault, Jolene Perreault, Aaron Perreault, Laura Perreault, Terese (Jeff) Amble, Christine Kleven, Karl (Carly) Kleven, Keith Kleven, Matt Wavra, Katie (Travis) Seeger, Nick (Heidi), Kimberly Wavra, Justin Perreault, and Jenna Perreault; 11 great-grandchildren: Brodie and Brylie Burke, Anna and Owen Caneday, Logan and Bennett Senske, Kole Kleven, Beau and Cruz Wavra, Hope Wavra, and Tre Seeger. He is also survived by his brother Leo (Virginia) of Morris; and sisters: Lucy Gauthier of New London, Louise Oxley of St. Albans, W.V.; sister Germaine of Crookston, Theresa (Don) Swenson of Crookston, and Martha (Mike) Harty of Milwaukee, Wis.; along with many nieces and nephews.
