Apple Valley - Ruth Sauve, 93, passed away peacefully in Apple Valley, on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Casket bearers include Jason Sauve, Adam Sauve, Luke Dingman, Bret Sauve, Ben Sauve and Jay Holm. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Terrebonne.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.
Ruth Gentry was born March 30, 1918 in Cookeville, Tenn., to James A. and Alva C. Gentry. She grew up in Huntington Beach Calif. She attended school and graduated from Huntington Beach.
Ruth was united in marriage to Pascal Mabery in 1935 and to this union, one son James was born. He died in 1936. Ruth was later married to Armond Sauve on May 2, 1937 in Costa Mesa, Calif. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1939. To this union five children, Larry, Barb, Lynn, Robert and Ken were born.
Ruth worked as nursing assistant at Thief River Falls Hospital for many years. Ruth also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and cooking. She moved to Apple Valley in 2005.
She is survived by children, James (Sharon) Mabery, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Larry (Marce) Sauve, St. Hilaire, Barb Sauve, Minneapolis, Lynn (Glen) Pirie, Apple Valley; five grandchildren, Brian (Meredith) Mabery, Phoenix, Ariz., Jason (Stacy) Sauve, Thief River Falls, Kelly (Jay) Holm, East Grand Forks and Adam Sauve, Savage; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Armond Sauve of 50 years, and Pascal Mabery; two sons, Robert and Ken; and grandson Bret Sauve. “We love you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.” She will be missed by many.
