Thief River Falls - Howard Hoeft, 87, died on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Honorary casket bearers included all of Howard’s nephews and nieces. Interment was held Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton. Howard Otto Hoeft was born May 18, 1924 on the family farm in Bogus Brook Township, northeast of Princeton, the son of Otto Rudolph and Thresa (Henschel) Hoeft. He attended country school and graduated from Princeton High School in 1941. He lived many years of his life on the family farm near Princeton, where he worked. He enjoyed playing softball in his younger years in Princeton. He moved near Thief River Falls over 25 years ago and has lived there since. He lived on the Stanley Hruby farm for five years before moving into town. He enjoyed his time at the Skylite apartments and has most recently lived at Oakland Park Communities. Howard was a good, hard working man. He would help a neighbor in need. He had a love for the land and was at peace while farming. Howard is survived by two brothers: Chester and Ralph (Irene) Hoeft, both of Princeton, and three nephews: Robert, Randy and Russell Hoeft, of Princeton; a sister-in-law, Jane Hoeft, and three nieces Linda, Mary, Patricia, one nephew Glen, who live near Lincoln, Nebraska.
