Strathcona - Victor Hoverson, 88, of Strathcona, died on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.Funeral Services were held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Interment was held at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of Greenbush, with Military Honors provided by Moen-Zimek Post 88, American Legion of Greenbush. Victor Leroy Hoverson, the son of Lawrence and Minnie (Everson) Hoverson, was born July 14, 1923 on the family’s home farm at Niagara, N.D. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He attended the Elkmount District 33 Country School at rural Fordville, N.D. Victor was in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1944 to 1946, and served in the Southern Philippines Liberation. He married Audrey Trovatten on July 7, 1955 in St. Paul. Audrey died on Nov. 3, 1964. Victor farmed in the Strathcona area since 1960. He married Irene Loken on Dec. 19, 1965 at Larimore, N.D.Victor was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, The American Legion Post 88 of Greenbush and he had served on the Deer Township Board for many years. He is survived by wife, Irene; children, Mary Ann Hoverson Swanson of Bethel, Thomas (Vicki) Hoverson of Strathcona, Douglas Hoverson of Strathcona, Dean (Bernice) Loken of Seattle, Wash., Dana (Jana) Loken of Ottertail, Connie (John) Stanislawski of Greenbush; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leola Sheesley and Bernice Machovsky, both of Mitchell, S.D., and a brother, Russell and wife Jean Hoverson of Grand Forks, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Audrey; sisters, Edna, Arlene, Ella, Lois and Leila; and brothers, Arthur, Albert, Gilbert and Chester.
