Newfolden - Crystal A Green, 85, of Newfolden died Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend, Wis. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden. Crystal was born Jan. 15, 1926 to Hans and Helen Wright Olson of Viking. She attended grade school in Viking and graduated from Newfolden High School. She attended Moorhead State Teacher’s College and graduated with a teacher’s degree. She taught elementary education in Bird Island, and Redwood Falls, until her marriage to Verne P. Green on June 24, 1950. Verne and Crystal were grain farmers until 1994 and raised mink until 1979 in Marsh Grove Township west of Newfolden. Over the years, Crystal was involved in many church activities at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, Homemakers, Study Club, Legion activies and the county fair. Crystal loved entertaining friends and relatives, gardening, crafts of all kinds, her winters in Arizona and being with her family. Survivors include her husband Verne, children Cindy (Mike) Tikusis of West Bend, Wis., Carl (Roberta) Green of Standquist, Patty (Darrell) Krieger of Edina, seven grandchildren: Sarah (David) Petitti of Chicago, Josh Weigelt of West Bend, Wis., Jacky Weigelt of Chicago, Zachary Green of Newfolden, Kendall Green of St. Louis Park, and Lauren and Anna Krieger of Edina; and great-granddaughter, Lucia (Lucy) Petitti. Crystal was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters: Harriet Maruska, Leona Talarico and Joanne Tusler. A00003B2011AG10 |
