     Thief River Falls - Julie N. Mattson, 83, of Thief River Falls, died on Dec. 15, 2010 in Texas.
     A memorial service celebrating the life of Julie Mattson will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Volker, PhD officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
    Julie N. (Stoskopf) Mattson was born July 14, 1927 in Warroad, to Harry and Violet (Hunter) Stoskopf.  She attended school and graduated from Warroad High School in 1945.  After graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Duluth.  Upon graduation, she returned to Warroad as a beautician for a short period of time and then moved to Thief River Falls, and began working at JoAnn’s Beauty Shop.
     She was united in marriage to Robert Mattson on September 15, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and remained an active member of the parish her entire life.
     Bob and Julie were part owner and operators of the Thief River Falls Times Newspaper until their retirement in 1986.  After retirement, they enjoyed summers in Minnesota and winters in Mission, Texas.
     Julie spent her entire life being a best friend to her brothers and sisters, a loving wife and a wonderful mother. She had many wonderful friends and shared activities such as square dancing, curling, fishing, card playing, trap shooting, gardening and always enjoyed a good party.
     Julie is survived by her husband of 60 years Robert Mattson; sons, Mark (Sue) Mattson, Bruce (Jane) Mattson; sisters, Germaine (Jim) Blean, Margie Keeney; brothers, Harry (Terry) Stoskopf and Jack (Anita) Stoskopf; three grandchildren, Corey (Rita) Mattson, Lisa (Darin) Robson and Lori (Chris) Holm; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sam Holm; and Emily, Ben and Anna Robson.
     She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Violet Stoskopf; her sister, Beverly Saurdiff; brothers-in-law, Jim Keeney, Bryon Saurdiff and Don Lindberg.
