Barstow, Calif. - Marguerite Gross, 82, a resident of Barstow, Calif., and formerly of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home in Barstow. A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Barstow. Marguerite was born Dec. 28, 1928 in Metz France. She married Clarence Gross May 24, 1947 in Metz and came to Thief River Falls with her husband shortly thereafter, where they made their home for 18 years before moving to Barstow in 1966. Marguerite worked at the Marine base in Barstow for several years, until she and her husband transferred to Adak Island, Alaska, where she worked as a budget analyst. They both retired upon their return to Barstow. She was an active volunteer with the Barstow Senior Center and served on the board of directors for many years. Survivors include her six children: Mary Jo (Gary) Olson, Fosston, Dominic Gross, Sparks, Nev., Perry Gross, Huntley, Ill., Jacqueline Gross, Barstow, Calif., Annette Gross, San Bernardino, Calif., Dan (Michelle) Gross, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; as well as five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one sister and one brother, both in France.
