Thief River Falls - Olaf Jorde, 86, died on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Gerry Eggers officiating. Casket bearers included Todd Bottem, Chad Bottem, Rory Anderson, Michael Jorde, Lee Johnson, Larry Johnson and Scott Rachael. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Olaf Peter Jorde was born October 31, 1918 in Excel Township, Marshall County, the son of Adolph and Ada (Jacobson) Jorde. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended Loftness School in Excel Township.
Olaf farmed with his mother and two brothers, Cliff and Clarence, and nephew Richard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, small wood-working, and curling. Olaf was the family photo taker and others could always count on him to have his camera ready. He was an active member of the community and enjoyed visiting with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, and served on the church council for a time. He has been a resident of Valley Home for the past nine years and he made many rag rugs.
Survivors include a sister, Olive (Laverne) Rondorf of Thief River Falls and brother Kenneth (Mary) Ranum of Thief River Falls; sister-in-law, Bev Ranum of Thief River Falls and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Cliff, Clarence and Leonard Jorde and Dale Ranum; and a sister, Clara May Swanson. A00003B2005AR13
