Kalstad - Alyce Eleanor Anderson, 89, died on Thursday, afternoon, March 17, 2005, at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 1, 2005 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, with Pastor Curt Matz and Father John Kleinwachter officiating. Honorary casket bearers included all of Alyce’s fellow WELCA members. Casket bearers included Walter Kostrzewski, Laures Kleinwachter, Roy Lemke, Marshall Storeby, Don Carlson, Orville Koland, Richard D. Anderson and Carl Britten.
Alyce Eleanor Anderson, the daughter of the late Charley and Annie (Johnson) Kittelson, was born on Oct. 2, 1915, in Minneota. At the age of 6 months, she moved with the family to Strandquist, where she spent most of her life.
Alyce was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and graduated from Strandquist High School. On April 5, 1944, Alyce was united in marriage to Arthur E. Anderson in Halma. They farmed in Nelson Park Township of Marshall County, west of Strandquist, until October 1987.
They then moved into Karlstad. Art died on August 19, 1988, and Alyce continued to make her home in Karlstad. She was a life-long member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was active in other organizations. In 1994, she moved to the Oakwood Homes in Karlstad. Since Oct. of 2002, she has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.
She is survived by her daughter, Corienne, and her husband, Wayne Jacobson, of Karlstad; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Storeby of Fergus Falls and Julia Kittelson of Seattle, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Harold (Lois) Anderson of Park River, N.D., and her special “sister” Gloria Renstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers, Ted, Arnold, Clarence, Melvin and Elmer; and four sisters, Agnes, Myrtle, Gladys and Lily. She was the last surviving member of her family. A00003B2005MR23
