Grand Forks, N.D. - Jerry Hruby, 80, of Grand Forks, N.D., died on Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, N.D.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 8 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks. Military Honors were provided by the East Grand Forks American Legion Post 157 and the East Grand Forks VFW Post 3817. Interment was held at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
Jerry Hruby was born on August 26, 1924 in Thief River Falls, the son of Jerry and Marie (Filippi) Hruby. He attended and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 serving with the 753 Gun Battalion Unit until 1946.
He married Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Bjerk on April 18, 1947 in Grand Forks, N.D. He was employed for many years with Northern States Power Company now known as Xcel Energy, retiring in 1994. He managed the Xcel Energy Credit Union for a number of years.
He was a member of the East Grand Forks Rod and Gun Club, the Eagles 350, East Grand Forks American Legion 157 and its honor guard, the East Grand Forks VFW 3817, the Elks, the Grand Forks Shriners, the East Grand Forks Retired Men’s Club, and the Xcel Credit Union.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Grand Forks, N.D.; daughter, Cheryl (Tim) Hochhalter Sr. of Sauk Rapids; sons, Gerald (Bobbie) Hruby of Cavalier, N.D., Dennis Hruby of Charles Town, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Stanley Hruby of Goodridge and George (Barb) Hruby of San Antonio, Texas.
