Middle River - Christine Mary Black, 74, of Middle River, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 7 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middle River. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery near Middle River.
Christine Mary Black, the daughter of the late Bruno and Clara (Statkiewicz) Bukowski, was born on March 14, 1930, in Cedar Township of Marshall Co., near Middle River. She grew to womanhood there, and attended the former Koepp School near her home, later earning her GED.
Christine was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. On June 13, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Black at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Middle River. Since their marriage, the couple has resided on their present farm in Cedar Township near Middle River. Christine was a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was active in the Ladies Guild there. She was also a member and past president of the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary., and a member of the Thief River Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Christine enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing, and was a great cook who loved sharing her recipes with her friends.
She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Allen of Middle River, and Randy, living north of Bemidji; six daughters, JoAnn of Argyle; Barb of Thief River Falls; and Patty, Cathy, Cyndy, and Diane, all of Middle River; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and Joe Bukowski, both of Middle River; one sister, Eleanore Rantanen of Middle River; in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alousie in infancy; one sister, Irene; one grandson; and son-in-law: Troy.
