Tillamook, Ore. - Dorothy Soeby, 84, died Thursday, February 24, 2005 in Tillamook, Ore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Dorothy C. Green was born July 15, 1920 in Fargo, N.D,, the daughter of Carl and Marion (Fanning) Green. She moved to Thief River Falls as a child.
On September 6, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to William Soeby in Thief River Falls. Together, they owned and operated a small drive-in restaurant until 1962, when they moved to Tillamook, Ore. There, they ran the Coast to Coast Store between 1962 and 1970. In 1970, they built Wild Bill’s Discount Mart and Auction and operated it until 1978.
Dorothy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Tillamook, Ore. where she supported Mexican Missions. She also enjoyed RVing in the south during winter months, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include three children, Michael (Linda) Soeby of Otis, Ore., Deborah (Alan) Brawner of Gladstone, Ore., and Pamela (Jay) Meredith of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren; brothers, Paul Green of Edina and Donald Green of Detroit Lakes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; brother, Carl Green; sisters, Marion Lorenson and Hildegarde Hamre; brothers-in-law, Herbert Seline and Bennie Hamre. A00003B2005MR02
