 Chisholm - Lloyd J. Johnson, age 86, of Chisholm and formerly of Middle River, died at Leisure Hills Nursing Home on Friday, February 18, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer.
 Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm, with Pastor Bob Ierian officiating. Interment was held at Lakeview Cemetery near Buhl.  
 Lloyd John Johnson was born in Thief River Falls, on November 18, 1918, to Otto and Signe (Englund) Johnson, the youngest of their five children. He was raised on the farm his parents homesteaded in Marshall County and raised his seven children there as well.
 He married Ferne Wegge November 12, 1939. They sold the farm and moved to the Iron Range in 1979, residing near Buhl. They were members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief Lake while on the farm and joined First Lutheran in Buhl. When Ferne’s health failed, they moved to Lincoln Center Apartments in Chisholm, where Lloyd provided care until her death on December 2, 1993. Lloyd continued to live there and joined Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm following Ferne’s death.
 Lloyd attended Barber College and received licenses in Minnesota and North Dakota. Lloyd used this trade all his life even as he farmed.
 Lloyd was a self-taught musician and played in several bands where many people enjoyed his musical talents. Lloyd began a wood crafting hobby in retirement and will long be remembered for his many creations. Lloyd remained an avid reader right up to his last days of life.
 He is survived by five of his children, daughter Susan (Allen) Iverson of Chisholm; sons, Eldon (Penny) Johnson of Eagan, Quentin (Dori) Johnson of Chisholm,  Randy (Eileen) Johnson of Mission, Texas and Jerry Johnson of Cook; son-in-law, Gordon Ellingson of Isanti; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
 Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Ferne; son, Sherman Otto Johnson; daughter, Adrienne Ellingson;  parents, Otto and Signe; sisters, Myrtle Kilen, Josephine McDonald, Viola Anderson;  brother, Martin Johnson; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson, Colby Ellingson.
