 Strandquist - Phillip Boen, 77, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.
  Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 19, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist,  with Rev. Curtis Matz officiating.   Casket bearers included Yvette Moberg, Krista Proulx, Michele Boen, Paul Boen, Brent Boen, Nancy Larson and Corey Boen.  Honorary casket bearers included Mikhal Moberg, Devin Moberg, Brent Proulx, Mark Proulx, Matthew Proulx, Chelsea Boen, Chase Boen, Christian Boen, Jordan Larson, Jacob Larson, Nicole Larson, Cameron Boen and Drew Boen. Interment was held at Hegland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Strandquist.
 Phillip James Boen was born March 16, 1927 in Lincoln Township, Marshall County, the son of Edward and Grace (Sanderson) Boen. He grew up and attended Strandquist High School.
 On June 20, 1953, Phillip was united in marriage to Yvonne Nancy Koland at First Lutheran Church, Karlstad. Phillip grew up on the farm and continued to farm until he and Yvonne moved to Karlstad in 1996.
 While on the farm he raised sheep, pigs, beef cows, dairy cows and small grains. For many years he drove bus for Strandquist School. He also served as Justice of Peace for the city of Strandquist.
 Phillip served on Bethesda Lutheran Church Council, Marshall County Soil and Water District, Strandquist School Board from 1975-1987 and Karlstad Memorial Hospital Board.  
 Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Nancy Boen of Strandquist; seven children, Yvette (David) Moberg of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Krista (Mike) Proulx of Crookston, Michele Boen of Brooklyn Park, Paul (Jackie) Boen of Karlstad, Brent (Carla) Boen of Strandquist, Nancy (Mark) Larson of Otsego and Corey (Candace) Boen of Bemidji; 13 grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Melford and Selma Boen of Buena Park, Calif., Lila Belanger of St. Paul, Joyce and Herb King of Arden Hills, Evelyn and Harry Noel of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Chester and Angie Boen of Olivia, and Jerry and Patsy Boen of Karlstad.
 He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; his father, Edward and mother, Grace; and brother, Spencer.
