 Thief River Falls - Delbert Erickson, 82, died on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
  Funeral services were held on Monday, February 21, at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Jim Howard officiating. Casket bearers included Darrel Nelson, Gary Hamness, Jeremy Knutson, Gary Tveiten, David Stromlund and Dale Erickson. Honorary casket bearers included fellow members of the Berean Fellowship. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona.
 Delbert Erickson was born on June 16, 1922, in Big Woods Township, Marshall County, the twin of Doris and the son of Elling Erickson and Sophie (Melo) Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith.  He grew up and attended country school. Following school, he stayed home to work on the family farm.
 On May 25, 1951 Delbert was united in marriage to Laura Larson at Poplar Grove Lutheran Church in Strathcona. The couple lived in Greenbush until 1968, when they moved into Thief River Falls.  While living in Greenbush, Delbert worked at Coast to Coast, Co-op and helped his brother, Eldor at Texaco. He also worked as a janitor at Greenbush Public School.  He worked as a janitor at the Aviation School located at the Thief River Falls Airport, where he worked until the 1980’s.
 Delbert was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Thief  River Falls, where he organized the men’s prayer breakfast and was active in Berean Fellowship. He enjoyed auction sales, buying things, fixing them up and then selling them. He liked having coffee at various places in Thief River Falls and enjoyed visiting with his many friends. 
 Every Thursday night, Delbert and Laura ate out. They enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, working puzzles and word find.  Music was a big part of Delbert’s life, the family had their own band called the Erickson’s Stringband. He played the guitar, Hawaiian guitar and mandolin.
 Survivors include his wife, Laura of Thief River Falls; daughter, Debra (Dennis) Piche of Red Lake Falls; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Clarence (Gladys) Erickson of Thief River Falls, Doris Hamness of Rosemont and Roynell (Gloria) Erickson of Roseau; sister-in-law, Helen Larson of Fargo, N.D.; special nephew, Dennis Erickson and family; and many other relatives and friends.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sisters, Alice McMahon, Eldor Erickson, Inez Gjovik, Bernice Carlson, Gladys Gjovik, Evelyn Hamness and a sister, Bernice, who died at a young age.   A00003B2005FB23
