Hoyt Lakes - Gertrude A. Sunsdahl, 72, of Hoyt Lakes, died on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the White Community Hospital in Aurora surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the 2 p..m. funeral service on Saturday, February 19 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. Rev. Brian Birk will officiate. Interment will be held at the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
Gertrude was born on a farm, June 27, 1932 to Oswald and May (Rothe) Linvik in Equality Township in Red Lake County. Gertrude was united in marriage to Marvin Sunsdahl on April 30, 1951 in Thief River Falls. They moved from the Thief River Falls area to the Iron Range in 1954. They became residents of Hoyt Lakes in 1956. Gertrude attended the Eveleth Vo-Tech, receiving her AA degree in accounting in 1971. She entered the business field in 1972, co-owning with Marvin several businesses in the area. Gertrude was very active in her community and church, working with the area youth. She ministered to all those who came to her with a need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Gertrude was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a husband, Marvin; daughter, Mary (Robert) Behrendt of Marquette, Mich.; two sons, Marvin G. Sunsdahl of Hoyt Lakes and Gary (Veronica) Sunsdahl of Kallispell, Mont.; two grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Bernice (Ray) Byklum of Oak Creek, Wis., Margaret Uglem of Cottage Grove, Selmer Linvik of Oakley, Orris (Clara) Linvik of Park Hill Okla., and Melvin (Kathy) Linvik of Cudahy, Wis.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Genevea Scufsa; and brothers, Raymond Linvik and Kermit Swaleson.
