Karlstad - Norma Bristlin, 64, died on Wednesday, February 9, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Bethel Lutheran Church of Karlstad with Pastor Mitch Tolpingrud officiating.
Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16 (today) at Bartlett cemetery of rural Verndale, with pastor William Moeller officiating.
Norma was born on July 28, 1940 in Karlstad, to Severt and Karen Marie (Hanson) Thompson. She attended school in Karlstad and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was united in marriage to Otto Bristlin on November 6, 1968 at Zion Lutheran church of Lake Bronson and the two made their home in Karlstad.
Norma was employed at the Karlstad Post office as a custodian and also delivered newspapers for the Grand Forks Herald for a number of years. Otto passed away in October of 1994 and Norma continued to make her home in Karlstad. She very much enjoyed fishing, knitting, gardening, playing bingo, spending time with her senior citizen friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her two sons, Daryl (Karen) and Dean Bristlin both of Karlstad; two grandchildren; three brothers, Norman (Wanda) Thompson of Grafton, N.D., Duane Thompson of Seymour, Ind., and Jerry Thompson of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; two sisters, Violet Martinson of Grafton, N.D., and Connie (Bill) Mantor of Brooklyn Center.; as well as many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Hjalmer, Clifford, and Elmer; six sisters, Joyce, Annie, Clarice, Gladys, and Eleanor.
