Warren - Donald Peterson, 74, died at his home in Warren on Wednesday, February 9, 2005.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 12, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Warren, with Rev. Donald Kirchner officiating. Casket bearers included Ralph Rucinski, Johnnie Green, Duwaine Aakhus, LuVerne Peterson, Kristopher Peterson and Jim Peterson. Military services were provided by by Warren American Legion Post 27. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.
Donald Joe Peterson was born on December 9, 1930 in Fairmont, the son of Hillary and Vera (Lucas) Peterson. He moved with his family to Karlstad, where as a young child, he attended school.
Donald served in the Army in Korea from 1952 to 1956. On March 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shirley Swanson. They moved to Warren in 1966. Donald worked on area farms and also drove semi for several years.
Donald enjoyed fishing, visiting with his friends and taking care of his yard.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Shirley; daughters, Debbie and friend Dennis Hudson of Crookston, Diane and friend Johnnie Green of Thief River Falls; one granddaughter and one grandson Brandon, both of Thief River Falls; sister Sylvia Bengtson of Karlstad; three brothers, LuVerne (Mona) Peterson of Karlstad, Hillary (Sandy) Peterson and Jim (Joyce) Peterson, all of Alexandria, and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and son David.
