Karlstad- Ole T. Thompson, 96, died on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15 at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad, with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Interment was held at Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad. Military honors were provided by Karlstad American Legion Post 445.
Ole T. Thompson, the son of Torkel and Kari (Stromlund) Thompson, was born on December 24, 1908, in Lind Township of Roseau County, east of Karlstad.
He attended school and grew to manhood in the Strandquist community, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He worked at various jobs in the area. Ole served with the U.S. Army during World War Two, and following discharge, returned to the Karlstad community where he has since resided. Over the years, he was employed by Leonard Thompson Construction and in later years, by the Green Thumb Program.
He was a member of the Karlstad American Legion Post 445. Ole enjoyed gardening and also enjoyed his many cats. Since November of 1997, he had resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.
He is survived by one sister: Marilyn Johnson, of Karlstad; his sister-in-law, Alice Thompson also of Karlstad; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Ole was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Peter, Leonard, Clarence, Henry, and Norris; and three sisters, Esther, Thelma, and one in infancy.
