Amarillo, Texas - Harry Lee Hanson, 75, of Amarillo, Texas, died on January 25, 2005.
Private memorial services were held at Schooler Funeral Home in Brentwood Chapel in Amarillo.
Harry Lee Hanson was born on December 10, 1929 in Thief River Falls, to Leonard and Lyla Hanson.
Harry graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in
1947. He served in the Korean War in the Navy for seven years on the Destroyer USS Black as a radio operator. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in teaching. There, he was in the SAE fraternity and was on the gymnastics team. He taught Industrial Arts in Atwater.
He returned to school at the University of Minnesota pursuing a degree in Architecture.
He shifted his career to architecture, where his truly gifted talents lay.  In the 70's he and a partner started a commercial design company called Concepts Inc., where Harry served as vice president of design.
After selling Concepts he ran his own commercial design business in Minneapolis called “The Studio” until his retirement in 1998.
Harry was a “A Prairie Home Companion,” “Norwegian Bachelor” with all the stubbornness that goes with that. He loved horses, nature, art and talk radio NPR. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 117 in Thief River Falls.
He had enormous depth and character and loved to sit and have coffee with friends and family and have interesting conversations about life. He had a kind, giving and trusting heart and tried his best to never let life push him around too much.
More than anything Harry loved his family and his horse farm in Lindstrom.
Survivors include a daughter, Georgi Anderson of Osceola, Wis.; one son, Jason Hanson of Rosamond, Calif.; one sister, Sally Shepherd of Amarillo, Texas; two granddaughters; one niece and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Milan and Charles.  A00003B2005FB
