Grand Forks, N.D. - Andreas “Andy” Homme, 87, of Grand Forks, N.D., died on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Valley Eldercare Nursing Center in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 29 at the Stennes Funeral Chapel in East Grand Forks. Interment was held at Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery in Grand Forks, N.D.
Andy Homme was born June 7, 1917 in Gully, the son of Halvor and Olea (Tuft) Homme. He was educated in a country school near Oklee, Minnesota.
He served his country in the US Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945, and spent three years in Africa.
Following his honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant he worked as a mechanic in Hoople, N.D., for Louie Moe. He married Emelia (Emma) Riske in Oklee on June 30, 1949. They lived in Thief River Falls, where he worked for Northern Chevrolet for 18 years, moving to Grand Forks, N.D., where he worked for Rydell Chevrolet until his retirement in 1982.
He is survived by his wife Emma of Grand Forks, two daughters Sandra (David) Henderson of Powell, Ohio, Gloria (William) Souser of Lebanon, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one half-sister, Emelia Hanson of Davison, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gunnuf, Knut and Arnold; one half-brother, Palmer Johnson, and half-sisters Alma Johnson, Mary Hofstad and Hazel Grundysen. He was a member of the East Grand Forks VFW.
