Hibbing - Leo Quirk, 62, of Hibbing, died on Monday, January 17, 2005 in his home.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 21, at the Immmaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing, with Rev. Clem Gustin, O.S.C. officiating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment was held at the Chisholm Cemetery. Casket bearers included his grandchildren, Jesse Carter, Brian Carter, Joshua Carter, James Britton, Lacey Thompson and Shawn Johnson.
Leo Quirk was born on Monday, July 15, 1942 in Thief River Falls, to Mike and Louise (Johnson) Quirk. He graduated from Chisholm High School and was married for 36 years to Alice Alto. He had worked on many construction jobs with the 49er’s union and retired from the Sheet Metal Workers International Association No. 10, after a debilitating work injury. He was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community and the Rolling Ranger Floor Hockey Team.
He is survived by daughters, Carolle Britton of Virginia and Cheryl Carter of Calumet; brothers, Robert (Eva) Quirk, Frank (Virginia) Quirk, Dr. Mike (Carrie) Quirk and Patrick Quirck, all of Chisholm and Daniel (Diane) Quirk of Hibbing; sisters, Mary Gramenz of St. Paul, Helen (Bob) Kliewer of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lois (Brian) Passeri of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and a good friend, Alice Quirk.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents and a brother, John. A00003B2005JA26
