Franksville, Wis. - Roger E. Nelson, 74, formerly of Newfolden, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at his home in Franksville, Wis.
Funeral services were held in Hales Corners, Wis., with interment in the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, with Military Honors provided.
Roger E. Nelson was born on April 18, 1930 to Martin and Ella (Christopherson) Nelson in Newfolden. He attended country school in the Newfolden area. Roger served in the US Army. After serving his country, Roger lived in Thief River Falls working for the Soo Line Railroad on the Buildings and Bridges crew. He then moved to Milwaukee, Wis. and worked for Bucyrus Crane Building. Due to health problems, Roger retired in his early 50’s.
Roger enjoyed traveling. He would just jump in his van and off to his next destination. He also enjoyed attending many family reunions, his grandchildren, woodworking, and motorcycling.
He is survived by six children, Susanne (Daniel) Murphy of Aurora, Ill., Cindy Nelson (Wayne Fehlhaber) of Franksville, Wis., Valiree (Marvin) Harris of Milwaukee, Wis., Lori (Russ) Torrison of South Milwaukee, Wis., Dawn (Dave) Radtke of New London, Wis., and Allen (Annette) of Mequon, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; five siblings, Dolores (Harlan) Knauf of Mount Pleasant, Mich., Dennis (Barbara) of Columbia Heights, Raymond (Jeannie) of Thief River Falls, Gordy (Lu) of Wind Lake, Wis., and JoAnne (Glen) Grindeland of Burnsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Violet Jenkins; and one brother Marvin.
