Detroit Lakes - Robley W. Hunt, 95, died on Friday, December 17th, 2004 at the Emmanuel Home in Detroit Lakes.
A memorial service was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Finland, Minn., on Saturday, January 8.
Robley was a University of Minnesota graduate, with a Bachelors degree in Forestry and he later obtained a Masters degree in Wildlife. He was employed by Superior National Forest as a supervisor for the Civilian Conervation Corps at the Wanless and Sawbill Camps. He was a refuge manager for 34 years. He served at Necedah NWR, Wis., Seney NWR, Mich., Sand Lake NWR, S.D., Des Lacs NWR, N.D., Agazzi NWR, Swan Lake NWR, Mo., and retired from Tamarac NWR in 1966.
He married Elme (Elly Haveri) in Grand Marais on July 2, 1936. Robley loved the North Shore area, the fishing and the people. He played the saxophone with the Harmony Kings in the late ’30s.
Suvivors include his sons, Jan (Karen) of Woodbury; Tom (Linda) of Detroit Lakes; daughter Linda (Philip) Ernst of Zimmerman, six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elly; his parents, Clarence and Eda; brother, Tom; sisters, Beatrice, Mary, Pauline and Theodora. A00003B2004JA12
