Baudette - Garold Romaine Olson, 55, the son of Ida (Karlstad) and George Olson was born June 26, 1949 in Roseau, and died on December 29, 2004 at the Lakewood Health Center in Baudette.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 4 at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau. Interment was held at the Falun Cemetery in rural Roseau.
As one of 11 children, he grew up and attended school in Salol, and then went on to serve his country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. On March 6, 1971, he married Denise Desjardins. They made their home south of Salol, where they raised three daughters.
Garold worked at Polaris Industries for several years before getting into dairy farming. Farming was something he truly enjoyed. He enjoyed simple things like being outdoors, cutting wood, or mowing grass. He also liked to do woodworking projects and mechanical repairs, but his mian priority in life was family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Denise of Salol; daughters, Tammy (Gale) Gross of Hawley, Carmen Olson of Roseau and Melinda Olson (Rusty) of International Falls; brothers, Charles Olson of Salol, LeRoy Olson of Salol and Ronald (Clara) Olson of Salol; and sisters, Carol (Jay) Garthus of Middle River, Coreen (Eldon) Swenson of Middle River, Janice (Aide) Neisius of Canon City, Colo, Kay (Gene) Sistad of Fosston, Ione (Tom) Fillmore of Holt and Diane (Andy) Thiesson of South Junction, Manitoba, Canada; and three grandchildren.
Garold was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elaine.
