Thief River Falls - Ronald Gerardy, 72, died on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Tim McGee presiding. Casket bearers included Tony Hoard, Brandon Gerardy, Zach Gerardy, Corey LaSalle, Tanner Morrissey and Tyler Morrissey. Burial was held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Ronald Gerardy was born on January 25, 1932 in Thief River Falls, the son of Peter and Barbara (Jaeger) Gerardy. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith and attended school in Plummer, graduating from Plummer High School.
Ron was united in marriage to Celeste Pierce on October 16, 1954 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Ron was employed by the Red Owl Store and Ace Hardware in Thief River Falls and owned and operated the Coast to Coast/True Value Hardware Store. Ron and Celeste moved to Owatonna, where Ron managed the Ace Hardware Store for five years, before retiring and moving back to Thief River Falls in 1997.
He enjoyed woodworking and helping his brother, Jerry, on the Gerardy farm. Ron especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ron served on the Minnesota Hardware Association Board as President and Vice President, was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Lions and Eagles.
Ron is survived by six children: Mark Gerardy, Renae (Mitch) Hoard, Kristi (Mike) LaSalle, Brian (Kim) Gerardy and Bruce (Mary) Gerardy, all of Thief River Falls, and Michelle “Mic” (Jim) Morrissey of Glenwood; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Carol) Gerardy of Plummer; two sisters: Doris (Ken) Laliberte of Mesa, AZ and Noreen (Merle) Johnson of Leesburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Celeste; and his parents.
