Thief River Falls - Alice Rodahl, 91, died on Wednesday, December 1, at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 6, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, with Pastor Nancy Hanson officiating. Casket bearers included Lyle Haagenson, Rueben Benitt, David Myhrer, Lawrence Gutterud, Don Lunke and Phil Torgerson. Interment was held at Holt Cemetery in Holt.
Alice Helen Ness was born May 11, 1913 in Holt Township, Marshall County, the daughter of August and Annette (Berg) Ness. She was baptized in the Christian Faith and confirmed at Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden. Alice attended Pioneer School in Holt Township, Marshall County.
Alice was united in marriage to Julian Rodahl on November 1, 1935 in Newfolden. She loved being a homemaker and raising their children. Alice enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, gardening and embroidering.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, was a Sunday school teacher, served on the Board of Education, an active member of her ALCW church circle and was a member of Homemaker Club. Alice and Julian were Valley Farmer and Homemaker in 1961 and also received a 10-years farm management award in 1965.
Alice and Julian were also chosen the “Outstanding Senior Citizens,” representing the Holt Community on July 17, 1987.
Survivors include four children, Yvonne Faaland of Starkweather, N.D., Elaine Rodahl of San Francisco, Calif., David (Barbara) Rodahl of Thief River Falls and Darrold (Kitty) Rodahl of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian; parents; son-in-law, Rev. Thomas Faaland; brothers, John, Bertil, Clarence, Edwin, Harrold and Rubin Ness; and sisters, Sophie Magnuson, Mable Anderson and Dora Anderson.
