 Thief River Falls - Dena Lappegaard, 93, of Thief River Falls, died on Sunday, November 21, 2004, at the Valley Elder Care Nursing Home in Grand Forks, N.D. 
  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24 (today), at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Casket bearers include Laurel Lappegaard, Roger Lappegaard, Rick Lappegaard, Terry Lappegaard, Steven Lappegaard, Dennis Gunderson, George Lee, Bill Ketzner, Conrad McDougal.  Honorary casket bearers include Dena’s 39 grandchildren.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. 
 Visitation will be  one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. 
 Dena Alatha Simonson was born on October 4, 1911, to Lewis and Lena (Gabrielson) Simonson in McGrath. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Holten Lutheran Church, McGrath.  She attended country school. 
 Dena was united in marriage to Otto Lappegaard on February 10, 1932, in Thief River Falls. The couple lived their entire life in Thief River Falls where they raised 10 children. 
 Dena loved visiting with her family, friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, embroidery, and reading.   
 Dena is survived by 10 children:  Darlene Arlington of St.  Paul, Laurel (Lavonne) of St. Paul, Lavonne (George) Lee of Hutchinson, Beverly (Bill) Ketzner of St. Paul, Barbara (Conrad) McDougall of Minneapolis, Roger (Sharon) of Angus, Lorna (Dennis) Gunderson of Grand Forks, N.D., Rickey of Anchorage, Alaska, Terry (Gwen) of Grand Forks, N.D., and Steven (Judy) of Thief River Falls; 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters,  Melvin (Laura) Simonson of Emerald, Wis., Silas (Esther) Simonson of Orange, Calif., Howard (Jean) Simonson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Chester (Evelyn) Simonson of Columbus, Ind., Ethel Rose of Fullerton, Calif., and many nieces and nephews. 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, on June 13, 2000; heer parents; one grandson; one son-in-law; seven brothers and sisters:  Arthur, Bertha, Axel, Lillian, Leon, Elmer and, Leroy.
