She attended and graduated from Elk River High School in 1937 and graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College in 1939. She taught rural school in the Grygla area before her marriage to Robert D Sundberg on July 17, 1943 in Grygla. The couple made their home in Spruce Grove Township, Beltrami County.
She held membership with Lake Agassi’s Retired Teachers Association. Maxine enjoyed gardening, embroidering dish towels, sewing and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds. She loved animals. Maxine and Robert traveled after retirement and visited quite a bit of the country. She was an avid letter writer to family and friends, but Maxine’s family was always first. She looked out for her children and grandchildren and always enjoyed any occasion together. She had a quiet strength about her.
