Thief River Falls - Lester Muzzy, 84, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 11 at United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Casket bearers include Richard Jorde, Ted Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Peter Solum, Floyd Johnson and John Bornholdt. Honorary casket bearers include Glenn Davidson, Ned Blodget, Harold Halvorson and Ray Laliberte
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Lester Andrew Muzzy was born July 17, 1920 on the family farm in Excel Township, Marshall County, the son of Nathaniel and Anna (Kisch) Muzzy. He was baptized at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and confirmed into the Methodist Faith. He grew up and attended Steiner School and Lincoln High School. Lester stayed to work on the family farm.
On October 2, 1949, Lester was united in marriage to Violet Hanson at Silverton Church. The couple lived on a farm that Lester purchased in 1947 in Excel Township, and where they lived to the present time. He farmed small grains and raised beef cattle. He and Violet actively farmed until he turned 80. Lester also worked at Arctic for 11 years starting in 1972.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he helped to prepare the Messenger. He loved all sports from watching his kids play to watching sports on TV. He enjoyed traveling, keeping up on current events, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Violet of Thief River Falls; five children: Brenda Walberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathy (Jerry) Narlock of Corpus Christi, Texas, Darrel (Robyn) of Woodbury, Mitch (Joanie) of Elk River and Laureen (Mark) Johnson of Manvel, N.D.; nine grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores (Ray) Laliberte and Leona Muzzy, all Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell, Kenneth, James and Erwin; sister-in-law, Darlene Muzzy; and son-in-law, LeRoy Walberg.
