Moorhead - Lillian Carlson, 93, of 100 Third Street North, Moorhead, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Lillian Elizabeth Hoganson was born April 3, 1912 to Nels and Hulda Hoganson in Ransom County near Lisbon, N.D. Lillian was born the same week the Titanic set sail for America in 1912. She was baptized and confirmed at White Stone Hill Lutheran Church. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1930. Lillian was employed by MeritCare Hospital. Long before Title IX, she played on a championship women’s basketball team in 1928. For many years she was an avid Twins fan.
She married Delmar Carlson in Moorhead on September 30, 1934. She had lived in West Fargo, N.D., Fargo, N.D., Fergus Falls and Moorhead during her married life.
She is survived by two daughters, Arla Mae (Louie) Hagen of Moorhead and Mary Jane (Kenneth) Ranum of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, JoAnne Carlson (Duane J. deceased 1993) of Audubon and Lorraine Carlson (Harris G. deceased 1967) of Mandan, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Delmar; sons, Duane and Harry; her parents; five brothers and three sisters.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 23, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead.
Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
