Greenbush - Amanda Jacobson, 89, of Greenbush, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 14 at the United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. Casket bearers were Amanda’s grandsons and the honorary bearers were her granddaughters. Interment was held at Bethania Cemetery in Greenbush.
Amanda Jacobson was born Amanda Nesteby, the daughter of Oscar and Ingeborg Nesteby, on October 19, 1916 near Wannaska. She grew up and attended school in Greenbush, graduating from Greenbush High School in 1934. She graduated from beauty school in Minneapolis and then worked as a hairdresser for Millie Short’s “Modern Beauty Shoppe” in Greenbush.
She married Myron Elias Jacobson on May 2, 1937 in Baudette. They farmed west of Greenbush for many years. Myron died on June 20, 1992. Amanda enjoyed traveling and talking about travel and she loved music.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Shelah) Jacobson of Greenbush; three daughters, Celeste (Duane) Sperl of Puyallup, Wash., Maureen (David Jr.) Ryden and Janelle (Paul) Craigmile, both of Hallock; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Cynthia; three brothers, Mearle, Erling and Ivan Nesteby; and one sister in infancy.
