 Thief River Falls - Marles Gillespie, 86, died on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
  Funeral services were held  on Tuesday, January 17, at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Terri Cuppett officiating. Casket bearers included Luvern Sorter, James Sorter, Allen Swenson and Darrel Swenson. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
  Marles Sorter Gillespie was born on October 28, 1919 in Douglas County, the daughter of Pete and Hilda (Swenson) Sorter.  She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, north of Holt and confirmed by Reverend Myhrer in Holt, in 1934.
  Marles was united in marriage on to Orville F. Gillespie on November 25, 1939 by Reverend Myhrer at the parsonage in Newfolden. The couple moved to Thief River Falls, where they lived their entire life.
  Marles is survived by one son, Neil (Joy) Gillespie of Thief River Falls; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren, all of Thief River Falls.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; and her parents.
