Thief River Falls - Ward A Chosa, 44, died on Saturday, October 9, 2004 in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at Nett Lake Baptist Church, with Rev. Kevin Lasley and Rev. Wally Olson officiating. Casket bearers included Axel Holmes Jr., Dana Wakemup, Nolan Littlewolf, Jeremy Hoagland, Wendell Hoagland and Rod Ranum. Honorary casket bearers included William Day, Clyde George “C.G.” Day, John Littlewolf and Charles Holmes. Interment was held at the Nett Lake Cemetery with miltary honors accorded by the Bois Forte Honor Guard.
Ward Chosa was born on June 18, 1960, in Virginia, Minn., the son of Thomas and Susan (Wakemup) Chosa. He grew up and lived in several cities and states and attended high school in Ely. After high school graduation, he served in the Army. He resided in Portland, Ore. for 16 years and recently moved to Thief River Falls to live with his brother. He was a member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians. He had recently worked on the pipelines in Alaska and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his fiance, Carolyn Meyers of Portland, Ore.; his mother, Susan (Thomas J. Konczak) Sullivan of Duluth one brother, Allan “Bobby” (Charlotte Rollings) Chosa of Thief River Falls; one half-brother, Thomas Chosa Jr.; one sister, Clara Anne Chosa of Cook; one half-sister, Judy Chosa of Ely and special caregiver, Diana Nelson of Thief River Falls; along with nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Chosa on July 8, 1996. A00003B2004OT27
